I had never seriously painted flowers until I was invited to a university in Holland to conduct some classes with Dutch watercolour students. Knowing something of the great tradition of floral art in that country I decided to devote the classes to flower painting and as a result I have become fascinated by this discipline. I make no claim as to the botanical accuracy of the flowers, taking pleasure as I do in intricate shapes and wonderful colours.
